FROM THE WINEMAKER
First off, I must apologize to all of you…
We broke one of our typically firm rules last fall and sent a test run of a new wine out without giving you first dibs on it. The wine ended up being a massive success … so to redeem ourselves, we’ve saved the 2025 vintage of Pizza Nights to give you the first crack at it.
Here’s what else to expect in your spring shipment. Keep scrolling to hear our story behind each bottle (and a sneak peek at our new Loomis rental property!)
FULL BOTTLE CLUB: 1 each of Pizza Nights Gamay, Lake Marie Valley Club Pinot Blanc, Lake Marie Valley Club Pinot Meunier, Loomis #2, Loomis #3, Loomis #4
RED WINE BOTTLE CLUB: 1 each of Pizza Nights Gamay and Loomis #3; 2 each of Loomis #2 and Loomis #4
WHITE WINE BOTTLE CLUB: 2 each of Lake Marie Valley Club Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier, and BUMPS Sauvignon Blanc
PIZZA NIGHTS

PIZZA NIGHTS 〰️
100% GAMAY
$25 RETAIL / $20 BOTTLE CLUB
Pizza Nights is a combination of three vineyards. The first two are located on Orcutt Road in the Edna Valley, part of the SLO Coast AVA. These brand-new blocks, Salaal and Firepeak, are only about a mile away from each other as you head out of the valley. We combined that with fruit from Zabala Vineyard in Arroyo Seco. All three sites work in unison beautifully, and as the label suggests, this bottle is a great pair for one of your favorite meals.
To sweeten the deal, we’re including a custom Field Recordings pizza knife in your club shipment. We hope you find it useful for all your homemade pies in the future! Please share them with us @fieldrecordingswine.
THE LAKE MARIE VALLEY CLUB
〰️
THE LAKE MARIE VALLEY CLUB 〰️
We’re featuring another new-to-us vineyard that was planted just a few years ago: The Lake Marie Valley Club. This site sits on the western edge of the Santa Maria Valley, adjacent to the eastern edge of old Orcutt. Before there were vines, there was a small neighborhood racquet and swim club that has had its day and still lies in the middle of the vineyard — with a small pond, two tennis courts barely suitable for weekend pickleball, and an old swimming pool that the members are nice enough to heat from May through September. (If you haven't spent much time in Santa Maria, it’s one of those towns where a swimming pool is easily a cold plunge if you don't run up that electricity bill).
PINOT BLANC
$35 RETAIL / $28 CLUB
We selected Pinot Blanc and Pinot Meunier from the Valley Club vineyard. We opted to keep the 8 barrels of Pinot Blanc separate, instead of blending them into SHUCKS, to create a distinct and refreshing wine. With all the hype for white wines these days, you’ll want to keep an eye on this variety.
ROSÉ OF PINOT MEUNIER
$35 RETAIL / $28 CLUB
We left the Pinot Meunier on the skins for four hours to soak up just the right amount of color, then pressed to stainless steel drums for fermentation and aging. Super crisp and refreshing. Drinker beware: When these wines are poured into your glass, you might find that pinkie finger naturally sticking out as you sip.
LOOMIS
〰️
LOOMIS 〰️
To complete this generous set of six, we have three reds from our original estate vineyard up in northwest Paso. This little vineyard is starting to come into its own. Whenever you pick out vines for a property, you have some educated guesses as to what the wines will become. 2024 and 2025 were big steps toward full production and finalizing our plans for the fruit. When you pick out vines, the worst thing you can do is try to force one wine or one style at a property. Great wines with character really make themselves. We planted a mix of varieties and thought a few of them might go together, but until that wine fermented dry over a few years, we were stuck guessing. (But even if nothing came together, we felt pretty good about using that juice in Fiction or Freddo).
LOOMIS #2
$55 RETAIL / $44 CLUB
The second release of the co-fermented north-facing block: Cab Sauv, Syrah, Sangiovese and touch of Trebbiano. You might ask what happened to the Ugni Blanc from the last release … our bad on that one. Trebbiano and Ugni Blanc are synonyms for the same grape, and in the end, we felt using the Italian name was more fitting for the final cuvee. We planted a newly imported clone of Sangio, brought over by Antinori family, at the top of the hill. That’s lined up parallel with a block of Syrah and Cab, which we planted with cuttings from historic properties in California viticulture.
Aged for 18 months in second-fill French oak barrels from Bel Air, Sirugue and Seguin Moreau. Lightly filtered and bottled without any fining agents. Central Cali meets Central Italy pretty well on this one. If you like to age bottles, don't be scared to hold onto this one for some milestone anniversary down the road.
LOOMIS #3
$35 RETAIL / $28 CLUB
Loomis #3 is made exclusively from a small block of Niellucio adjacent to Loomis #2. Niellucio is a synonym for Sangiovese but sourced from plants on the island of Corsica. When we planted this, we figured it could go both ways — maybe another great Sangio block or something entirely different. This lot does stand out, and we opted to put it into a small stainless tote and ferment it entirely as full clusters utilizing carbonic maceration. We let the clusters sit intact for 21 days, sealed and protected by its own inside out fermentation, then pressed to neutral French oak barrels for 4 months of aging. This red has a great freshness and floral quality. It shines brightest when you pull it straight from your cellar and pop just slightly below room temperature. Only 3 barrels made; just enough for each and every one of you to get a single bottle to try.
LOOMIS #4
$45 RETAIL / $36 CLUB
Loomis #4 is really a bonus for us and y’all. We planted one small section of Cab Franc down toward the driveway as it falls off the property heading down toward San Marcos Creek. We co-fermented this one with just a few hundred pounds of Cab Sauv to fill out the bins. After 18 months of aging, we’re very excited to share the results. Our winery crew is all huge fans of some Loire Valley Cab Franc producers that utilize newer barrels in their operations. We used all second-fill French oak barrels, which really added extra complexity to the savory and structured Cabernet Franc. Another wine with an extra long shelf life, if you’re one of those people with a wine fridge in the house. But if you can’t wait to pop and see what we’ve pulled off here, we’ll have a few bottles for you to restock, since this was a massive production of … 4 barrels, compared to the measly 3 for Loomis #3.
